Joshua I. Altman

Joshua Altman is a multimedia producer and digital storyteller in Washington D.C. He is a graduate of Georgetown University's M.A. program in Communication, Culture and Technology and The George Washington University with a double major in Journalism & Mass Communication and History, two areas in which Joshua always held a strong interest.

@TheHill ranks number one most followed by Congress.

In January 2013 I took over social media responsibilities including managing @TheHill in addition to many of my video and multimedia responsibilities and in working in two complementary fields have found success in both.

A recent study by NY Magazine's Daily Intelligence found that  @TheHill is the most followed twitter account by Congress. An email about the study from Francine McMahon, Publisher of The Hill said, "...This study reinforces the continual findings that The Hill has a highly engaged opinion leader audience."

McMahon continued:

  • "The Hill is the most followed news source ahead of Politico, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, AP, CNN, Huffington Post, Roll Call, Fox News - just to name a few.
  • "This is true of both Republicans and Democrats. The Hill also beat all journalists and politicians, including the President.
  • "More members of Congress follow The Hill than follow each other."

In a show of bipartisanship, @TheHill topped not only the list of most followed twitter accounts by Congress and most followed news accounts, but most followed news accounts by both Democrats and Republicans."

Social media, like all forms of media is about connecting with a reader or viewer. Forming  a relationship between a news producer and a news consumer . Striking that bond is a place where I have dedicated focus and found success.
